Math III Honors, Pre- Calculus Honors

I was really fortunate to begin my college studies at a community college, working my way through a four year university and then heading on to graduate school.  I settled on becoming a math teacher back when I started at Guilford Tech, and I have never questioned that decision!

AA General Studies:  Guilford Technical Community College

BS Mathematics/Secondary Education Certification:  Winston-Salem State University

MA Mathematics:  Wake Forest University

Many of my students are often very nervous about math.  It isn't really that they don't know how to do the problems, but mostly they don't know where to start.  Doing math is like eating an elephant -- it is only possible one bite at a time.  I love helping students learn how to break big problems into smaller parts.  I use lots of activities to make learning fun and time fly by.

About me… I grew up on a dairy farm in the Western North Carolina mountains and moved to High Point when I got married back in 1993.  This September my husband Donovan and I will have been married for 25 years! We have four children -- two sons and two daughters. Our sons are both Arabic Linguists in the Marine Corps.  Cameron, our oldest daughter, is a junior at East Carolina University, and our youngest daughter Rachel is a junior at Ledford. Besides watching a great game of soccer or football, I also enjoy cooking, running, reading, and doing anything outdoors!
