Wheatmore High School

On Monday, October 21, the Wheatmore Lady Tennis team traveled to Owen High School in Black Mountain for the first round of the state championship playoffs. Despite the challenges posed by Hurricane Helene, Owen High School worked hard to prepare the venue for the event. Owen High Coach Chris Backlow expressed sincere gratitude to Coach Doug Gore and the Wheatmore team for their generosity in presenting Owen players with t-shirts after the match. Coach Backlow shared, "They also gave me a case of new tennis balls after learning that ours were ruined in the flood." He added, "The Wheatmore team's impeccable sportsmanship during the match, along with this kind gesture afterward, softened the impact of our 5-4 loss and reminded us all of the kindness we are capable of."
